1. 19 new ministers inducted and 1 elevated to the cabinet rank into PM Modi’s cabinet: Minister of State with independent charge PrakashJavdekar was elevated to the rank of Cabinet Minister. The Ministers of State are Faggan Singh Kulste, S.S. Ahluwalia, Ramesh Jigjinagi, Vijay Goel, RamdasAthawale, RajenGohain, Anil Madhav Dave, ParshottamRupala, M.J. Akbar, Arjun Ram Meghwal, JaswantSinhBhabhor, Dr.MahendraNathPandey, Ajay Tamta, Smt. Krishna Raj, MansukhMandaviya, Smt. Anupriya Patel, C.R. Chaudhary, P.P. Chaudhary, and Dr.SubhashBhamre.

2. Centre to allot Rs 400 crore for developing airports in UP: The Centre government has released an official statement that it will provide an assistance of 400 crore rupees for developing airports at Agra, Allahabad, Kanpur and Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh.

3. National mineral exploration policy unveiled: The National mineral exploration policy has been unveiled to adopt comprehensive exploration of non-fuel and non-coal mineral resources. The new policy aims to bring together best of knowledge and experience, modern technology, trained manpower and financial resources on a collaborative platform. Space technology would be used to check illegal mining by developing a mining surveillance system.

4. Jawaharlal Nehru port becomes India’s first port to implement Logistics Data Tagging of Containers: The logistics data bank tagging of containers is a first of its kind facility which will help importers and exporters track their goods in transit. An RFID  (Radio Frequency Identification Tag) tag would be attached to each container which would be tracked through RIFD readers installed at different locations.

5. Mission Indradhanush to next cover 13 MP districts: Thirteen districts in Madhya Pradesh will be covered under the upcoming phase of the Centre's "Mission Indradhanush" initiative aimed at full immunisation of all children in the country. It (the third phase of 'Mission Indradhanush') will cover Alirajpur, Jhabua, Ashok Nagar, Raisen, Vidisha, Sagar, Damoh, Tikamgarh, Chhattarpur, Panna, Umaria, Satna and Rewa districts," said V Kiran Gopal Rao, Mission Director, National Health Mission for Madhya Pradesh.

6. Centre nod for renaming Mhow railway station after B R Ambedkar:The central government has given its nod for renaming Mhow railway station in Indore district of Madhya Pradesh after BR Ambedkar as the Dalit icon was born there.

7. The Online Pharmacy 1mg acquires lab aggregator Medd: Gurgaon-based online pharmacy 1mg has acquired diagnostic labs aggregator Medd (HolaMed Healthcare Technologies Pvt. Ltd) for an undisclosed amount. However, as a part of the deal, all the three founders of Medd - Arpit Kothari, Anurag Mundhada, and Era Dwivedi, have joined the 1mg team.

8. K B Koliwad elected as Speaker of Karnataka Legislative Assembly: Mr. K B Koliwad has unanimously elected as the Speaker of Karnataka Legislative Assembly. Mr. K B Koliwad is 72 years old and represents Ranebennur constituency in HaveriTaluk.

1. NASA’s Juno successfully enters Jupiter’s orbit:It was launched five years ago, and will study Jupiter's composition, gravity, magnetic field and search clues about the planet's formation.

1. SudarshanSen appointed Executive Director of RBI: SudarshanSen has been appointed as the Executive Director of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). He will replace NS Vishwanathan who was elevated as Deputy Governor of RBI.

MFIN elects R BhaskarBabu as new president: Microfinance Institutions Network (MFIN),an industry association and Self-Regulatory Organization (SRO) for the microfinance industry in India, has announced R BaskarBabu, CEO of Suryoday Micro Finance as its new President of the Board in the wake of the previous President retiring.

3.  First association of Indian Olympians launched: The Olympians Association of India (OAI), the first-ever association for Indian Olympians, by the Olympians, was launched. The Olympians Association of India's official Twitter account, @IndianOlympians, will serve as the platform for real-time updates of the Indian contingent at the upcoming Rio Olympics.

4. Saudi Arbia becomes associate member of ICC: Saudi Arabia was unanimously elected as the 39th Associate Member of International Cricket Council’s (ICC) during its full council meeting in Edinburgh.

5. Niranjan wins eight medals in IWAS World Games:Bengaluru para-swimmer NiranjanMukundan has won eight medals, including three golds, at the recently-concluded IWAS (International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports) U-23 World Games in Prague, Czech Republic

1. India’s first Commercial Court and Commercial Disputes Resolution Centre inaugurated in Chhattisgarh: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh has inaugurated country's first commercial dispute resolution centre and a commercial court in the state capital.The commercial court is located in Naya Raipur area of the city.The court also consists of arbitration centre and a meditation centre.

2. BRICS’ meeting on energy efficiency begins today: A two-day meeting of the BRICS nations working group for enhancing cooperation in energy efficiency and energy saving have started from today in Visakhapatnam. This is the first meeting of the group in which participants from all BRICS countries are attending the meet.

3. President inaugurates smart village pilot project at Rashtrapati Bhavan: President Pranab Mukherjee has inaugurated a smart model village pilot project at RashtrapatiBhavan in New Delhi. Initially, this initiative will be implemented in five selected villages in Haryana than later on will be spread to the entire country.

4. PM attends martyrdom anniversary of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur: Prime Minister NarendraModi has attended a commemorative event to mark the 300th Martyrdom Anniversary of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur in New Delhi. On the occasion, Prime Minister Modi has released a book and souvenir on the life of Banda Bahadur.

5. Cyprus set to sign the new tax treaty with India: India and Cyprus have agreed to revise their tax treaty under which capital gains tax will be levied on the sale of shares of investments made after April 1, 2017. The new Cyprus Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA), which has been agreed upon by both the countries, would provide for source-based taxation of capital gains on transfer of shares.

1. China fits final piece on world’s largest radio telescope: China has hoisted the final piece into position on what will be the world’s largest radio telescope, which it will use to explore space and help in the hunt for extraterrestrial life. The Five Hundred Metre Aperture Spherical Telescope, or Fast, is the size of 30 football fields and has been cut out of a mountain in the south-western province of Guizhou.

2. Linda Burney becomes first indigenous woman elected to Australia’s lower house: Linda Burney, a former teacher has become the first Indigenous woman elected to the House of Representatives (lower house) of the Parliament of Australia. She achieved the fete after claiming victory in the marginal seat of Barton.

1. SBI gets $625 million from World Bank for solar power: State Bank of India (SBI) and the World Bank have inked agreements for a $625 million (around Rs 4,200 crore) facility to support grid-connected rooftop solar programme (GRPV) in the country. Through this initiative, at least 400 megawatt (Mw) solar capacity will be created across the country.

2. India to host world’s first MMA league: India will be hosting the world’s first Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) ‘Super Fight League’ from August 26 to October 1. The franchise-based league will feature eight teams – Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Mumbai, Haryana, Bangalore, Punjab, Pune and Goa.

3.  India set to host South African Basketball qualifiers: The South Asian Basketball Association (SABA) Zone Qualifying Round of the FIBA Asia Challenge 2016 will be held from July 6 to 8 at the SreeKanteerava Indoor Stadium, Bangalore. 

4. Double bonanza for India’s Praneeth, Manu-Sumeeth win Canada open titles: India is celebrating its double bonanza as India's badminton player B SaiPraneet has won the Canada Open Grand Prix Badminton tournament and also it's Rio Olympics-bound men’s doubles pair of Manu Attri and B Sumeeth Reddy have also won titles at the $55,000 Canada Open Grand Prix badminton tournament in Calgary.

5. Lewis Hamilton wins Austrian Grand Prix: Lewis Hamilton has won the Austrian Grand Prix after a dramatic last-lap collision with championship rival NicoRosberg.

6. Ex-MP Ranji player Kapil Seth passed away: Former Madhya Pradesh cricketer Kapil Seth has recently passed away. He was 36 years old. According to the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA), the all-rounder was suffering from Hepatitis B. Mr.Kabil who represented the state in only one first-class and a List A game in the 2000-01 season, made his sole Ranji Trophy appearance against Vidarbha in November 2000.

1. BRICS Youth Summit, 2016 held: The 2016 BRICS Youth Summit held in Guwahati, Assam concluded on 3 July 2016. The theme of the 2nd youth summit that started on 1 July 2016 was“Youth as bridge for Intra-BRICS Exchanges”.The three day summit saw participation of officials and youth of the delegation from BRICS nations, namely Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.

2. Kerala Government decided to ban ‘electronic cigarettes’: It was banned in view of studies claiming that its use can cause various health issues, including cancer and heart ailments.In this regard, the health ministry directed the additional chief secretary (health) to issue an order banning the production, sale and advertisement of 'electronic cigarette' alias 'e-cigarette'.With this, Kerala became the fourth Indian state to ban e-cigarettes. The other three states are Punjab (1st state to do so), Maharashtra and Karnataka.

3. National Doctor’s Day 2016 observed on 1 July 2016 across India: The 2016 National Doctors’ Day was observed on 1 July 2016 across India.The day is observed to honour legendary physician, Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy whose birth and death anniversary falls on the same day.

4. INS Tarasa, follow-on Water Jet Fast Attack Craft launched by Indian Navy: Indian Navy launched the fourth in the series of Follow-on Water Jet Fast Attack Craft (FO-WJFAC) called INS Tarasa. It was launched at the Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd (GRSE), Kolkata.The name of the ship, like the previously launched FO-WJFACs, is based on the picturesque island in the Andaman and Nicobar islands in the Bay of Bengal.

5. Union HRD Ministry launches teacher education portal ‘Prashikshak’: The Union Minister for Human Resource Development SmritiZubinIrani launched the Prashikshak, a teacher education portal, with a vision to strengthen District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs) and bring quality teachers into the Indian school education system.

1. International Solar Alliance Cell and World Bank sign Declaration for promoting Solar Energy: The Interim Administrative Cell of the International Solar Alliance (ISA Cell) and the World Bank on 30 June 2016 signed declaration to promote solar energy globally. The declaration was signed during the visit of the World Bank President Jim Yong Kim to India in June 2016. The declaration was signed by UpendraTripathy, Secretary of Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and Chairperson, ISA cell and OnnoRuhl, India Country Director of the World Bank.

2. Exercise RIPMAC 2016 begins: Exercise RIMPAC 2016, the Pacific military exercise, began on 30 June 2016 at Hawaii with 26 nations participating in the war games that will cover the Hawaiian Island and southern California.The theme of RIMPAC 2016 is Capable, Adaptive, and Partners. RIMPAC 2016 is the 25th exercise in the series that began in 1971.

1.  ICC relaxes Decision Review System: The International Cricket Council (ICC) approved a change to the DRS (Decision Review System) playing condition relating to the LBW “Umpire’s Call”. The decision will allow changes to the decision review system which will make it easier to overturn not-out LBW decisions.As per the amendment, the size of the zone inside which half the ball needs to hit any part of the stumps for a not out decision.  Currently, half of the ball would need to be hitting a zone between the centre of leg and off stumps.
2. Gurpreet Singh Sandhu becomes first Indian to play in Europa League: Sandhu was named in Norwegian club Stabaek FC'ssquad for their Europa League qualifying match against Welsh Premier League side Connah's Quay Nomads FC.

3. Former French Prime Minister Michel Rocard died at the age of 85: Michel Rocard, former Prime Minister of France, passed away in Paris, France. He was 85.Rocard served as Prime Minister under President Francois Mitterrand from 1988 to 1991.


4. Holocaust survivor and Nobel Peace Prize winner Elie Wiesel died at the age of 87.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address ‘Mann Ki Baat’ to be broadcast in Bangladesh:The programme which reaches crores of people in real time featuring PM Modi talking on various subjects related to social, economic and political  which have international audience soon. Mann Ki Baat will be broadcast in Bangladesh on All India Radio's upcoming Bangla language service channel AkashvaniMaitree, for which AIR has made arrangements to receive comments and voice messages from Bangladeshi citizens.

2. Military grants recognition to Paralympic Committee of India: The Sports Ministry has announced that it has granted recognition to the Paralympic Committee of India (PCI), giving a huge confidence boost to the several para-athletes who have qualified for Rio Paralympics.

3. President Pranab Mukherjee presents BC Roy National Awards for 2008, 2009 and 2010: President of India, Pranab Kumar Mukherjee has presented the Dr.Bidhan Chandra Roy Award national awards for 2008, 2009 and 2010 at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi.These awards were presented on the occasion of National Doctors’ Day observed on July 1 to pay honour and tribute to India’s most famous physician Dr.Bidhan Chandra Roy.Top Five Awardees are Dr. Mammen Chandy, Prof. Rajeshwar Dayal, Dr.Rohit V. 4. Maharashtra target of planting 2 crore trees in state crossed: Maharashtra government started an initiative for plantation of about 2 crores trees. The initiative was flagged off by Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis along with Finance and Forest Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar.

5. India jumps 19 places on World Bank Logistics Performance Index, moves to 35th rank: India improved its ranking in the World Bank group's (WBG) bi-annual "Logistics Performance Index 2016", jumping from 54th in 2014 to 35th in 2016. This was announced by the World Bank Group in its recent launch of the report.

6. Radha Mohan Singh launches a web-based app CMRS:The Union Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Minister, ShriRadha Mohan Singh has launched Crop Manager for Rice-based Systems (CMRS) a web-based App for better crop and Nutrient management released for Bihar farmers in a program organised at ICAR-RCER in Patna.

7. Rapid Rural Police Response System launched in Punjab: A Rapid Rural Police Response System was launched across Punjab to ensure prompt and effective police response in the state's over 12,000 villages.Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, who launched the scheme, also flagged off 400 new motorcycles and 220 new Bolero jeeps under the new system.

RIL, SBI sign shareholder agreement for payments bank of JV: Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has signed a shareholder agreement with State Bank of India (SBI) have signed Subscription and Shareholders Agreement to set up payments bank.According to the agreement, Reliance Industries will be the promoter with a 70 % equity contribution in the payments bank and SBI as joint venture will have 30 % equity contribution.

2. State Bank of India launches two new digital offerings: The country's largest lender State Bank of India has launched 2 new digital offerings on the occasion of 61st State Bank Day.SBI has partnered with Flipkart to offer its consumers the facility of pre-approved EMI Facility on purchases. Under this partnership SBI will provide overdraft facility to pre-qualified set of customers for transacting on Flipkart for a minimum purchase of Rs. 500.

Renowned Marathi literary scholar R C Dhere no more: R C Dhere, a recipient of the Sahitya Academy Award in 1987 for his book 'Sri Vitthal- A Mahasamanvayak (Lord Vitthal- A great coordinator)', carved a niche for himself by tracing the roots of Maharashtra's folk traditions and literature with an extensive research that highlighted the influence of saints on Maharashtrian ethos.

1. Suresh Prabhu launches NIVARAN portal: Shri Suresh PrabhakarPrabhu, Minister of Railways has launched "NIVARAN portal", an online system for redressal of service related grievance of serving and former railway employees.

2. Indigenously built Tejas inducted into IAF: The Indian Air Force (IAF) inducted the first squadron of the indigenously made Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas into its fleet. An induction ceremony to induct two Tejas aircrafts was held at the Aircraft Systems Testing Establishment (ASTE) in Bengaluru, which included a multi religious prayer.

3. D K Hota assumes charge as BEML chairman: D K Hota has been appointed as Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Bharat Earth Movers Ltd. (BEML) with effect from July 1.

4. India’s first integrated defence communication network launched: India's first integrated defence communication network was launched, enabling the army, air force, navy and the Special Forces Command to share situational awareness for a faster decision-making process.

1. NASA tests rocket booster for space mission: A booster for NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS), the most powerful rocket in the world, has been successfully tested, an advance that may pave the way for future human exploration in deep space, including the journey to Mars.

1. SBI Digital Village Initiative: Balal village in Kasargode district in the state of Kerala is one of the 21 villages selected across the country by the State Bank of India under the SBI Digital Village initiative, which will be launched by the SBI Chairperson on State Bank Day (1st July).

India Post payments bank proposal gets cabinet nod: The Union Cabinet has granted its approval to set up India Post’s payments bank, 650 branches of which will be made operational by September 2017. The payments bank will be managed with a professional setup, headed a chief executive officer, and will have representations from various other government departments including the Department of Posts, Department of Expenditure and Department of Economic Services among others.

4. Sameer Mon emerges fastest athlete of 56th National Inter-State Athletics: Sameer Mon, the veteran sprinter of India, won gold in 100 meter dash in 10.60 seconds at the 56th National Inter-state Senior Athletics Championships in Hyderabad.

1. Anti-submarine torpedo Varunastra inducted in Navy:Indigenously-built heavyweight anti-submarine torpedo Varunastra has been successfully inducted in the navy, making India one of the 8th countries to have the capability to design and build such a system.

2. Viswanathan Anand honoured with ‘HonorisCausa’ Doctor of Science degree: Five-time World Champion ViswanathanAnand was conferred the "HonorisCausa" Doctor of Science by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) during its 49th convocation ceremony. The 46-year-old Anand was bestowed with the degree by NITI aayog chairman ArvindPanagariya.

3. Union Cabinet approved MoU between UPSC and Royal Civil Service Commission of Bhutan: The MoU will strengthen the existing relationship between RCSC and UPSC. It will facilitate sharing of experience and expertise of both the parties in the area of recruitment.

4. Royal Enfield announces collaboration with Flipkart to sell its accessories:  E-commerce major Flipkart and Royal Enfield have entered into collaboration where flipkart will sell complete range of accessories of Royal Enfield.

5. India successfully test fires ballistic missile ‘Barak-8' off Odisha coast:The missile was launched from test fired from launch pad no-3 of the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur. The Barak-8 is India’s new surface to air missile which is developed jointly with the Israel.

6. ICMR signs agreement to provide healthcare through solar based solutions:The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has signed MoU with the Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW), a policy research institution, to launch a new ‘Initiative on Solar for Healthcare’.

7.  Maharashtra, Tata Power to ink pact for 1,000 MW for Mumbai: The Maharashtra government is reportedly planning to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Tata Power for sourcing 1,000 MW from the upcoming Dherand Thermal Project. 

INTERNATIONAL UPDATES:
1. Malaysia gets 2 women Shariah HC judges: Two women have been appointed as judges of Malaysia’s Islamic Shariah High Court for the first time in the history of the judiciary of the Muslim-majority country. Noor Huda Roslan, 40, and NenneyShuhaidahShamsuddin, 41. Shariah High Court deals with exclusively Islamic laws, having jurisdiction upon every Muslim in Malaysia.

2. China Launches 2nd Shijian-16 Satellite:China has successfully launched its second Shijian-16 series satellite for space research and experiments. The first Shijian-16 satellite was launched in October 2013.

3. Rodrigo Duterte sworn-in as new Philippine President after a landslide election victory: After a landslide election victory in May, Rodrigo Duterte was sworn in as the 16th president of the Philippines and promised to make sweeping changes to the country's political system.

4. World Bank, ISA sign agreement for collaboration in solar energy: The World Bank Group has signed an agreement with the International Solar Alliance (ISA), to collaborate on increasing solar energy use around the world with the goal of mobilising $1 trillion in investments by 2030.

1. Four Indian-Americans honoured with 2016 Great Immigrants Award in US: Four Indian-Americans have been honoured with prestigious Great Immigrants: The Pride of America Award 2016. 2. Pioneer of modern art in painting and pottery, K G Subramanyam passes away: Renowned sculptor and painter KG Subramanyan passed away in Vadodara, Gujarat following a brief illness. He was 92. He was multifaceted artist credited with being one of the pioneers of Indian modern art and was also a freedom fighter.
