1. Cabinet approves expansion of academic and infrastructure capacity of five IITs: The Union Cabinet has approved Phase-B construction to expand academic and infrastructure capacity at five IITs—Tirupati, Palakkad, Bhilai, Jammu, and Dharwad—at a cost of ₹11,828.79 crore over four years (2025–26 to 2028–29).The expansion will increase total student capacity from 7,111 to 13,687 (an addition of 6,576 students) and will also establish five new research parks to strengthen industry-academia collaboration.130 new faculty positions at the professor level will be created, and the project will generate direct and indirect employment through faculty hiring, campus development, and support services.Though the five IITs are located in specific states, the pan-India admission process ensures the benefits of this expansion will be distributed across the entire country, contributing to innovation, education equity, and economic growth.

 

2. Jyotirditya Scindia inaugurates 22nd edition of Bharat Telecom 2025: Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya Scindia, has inaugurated the 22nd edition of Bharat Telecom in New Delhi.Bharat Telecom is an annual event that aims to present India as a provider of world-class telecom solutions.The Bharat Telecom Expo is organised by the Telecom Equipment and Services Export PromotionCouncil (TEPC) in partnership with the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). The Department of Telecommunications comes under the Union Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.The Telecom Equipment and Services Export Promotion Council is under the Union Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

 

3. Prakash Magdum Appointed as MD of National Film Development Corporation: Prakash Magdum has taken charge as the Managing Director of the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC), bringing his vast experience in media and film administration.A 1999 batch officer of the Indian Information Service, he has previously served as Additional Director General at both the Press Information Bureau (PIB) and the Central Bureau of Communication in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.Magdum has held key roles in India’s film institutions, including as Director of the National Film Archive of India and Registrar of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) in Pune, Maharashtra.

1. India Introduces Genome-Edited Rice Varieties: Kamla & Pusa DST Rice 1: India has unveiled its first genome-edited rice varieties — DRR Rice 100 (Kamla) and Pusa DST Rice 1 — marking a global first in this field. The announcement was made by Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in New Delhi.These newly developed rice varieties are projected to increase crop yield by 25–30% and contribute to lowering greenhouse gas emissions, especially methane and nitrous oxide, which are commonly released from waterlogged paddy fields.Kamla (DRR Rice 100) was created by modifying the widely grown Samba Mahsuri variety using genome-editing techniques. Developed by the Indian Institute of Rice Research (IIRR), Hyderabad, Kamla offers higher grain count per panicle and matures faster, making it suitable for widespread cultivation.On the other hand, Pusa DST Rice 1, developed by the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI), New Delhi, is a genome-edited version of the Cottondora Sannalu variety. It boasts better productivity and is particularly suited for saline and alkaline soils.

 

2. Parameswaran Iyer Appointed as India’s Representative to the IMF Board: Parameswaran Iyer, currently serving as the Executive Director at the World Bank, has been appointed to represent India on the Board of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).His nomination was necessitated to fill a vacancy created with the termination of services of K.V. Subramanian.Iyer brings a wealth of experience in public administration and international development, having held significant positions in both the Indian government and international organizations.

 

3. Yemen appoints Salem Saleh Bin Braik as PM: Yemen‘s Presidential Leadership Council announced the appointment of Salem Saleh Bin Braik, former Finance Minister, as the new Prime Minister following the resignation of Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak.Mubarak stepped down due to challenges in implementing a cabinet reshuffle and disagreements with Rashad Al-Alimi, head of the Presidential Council, over the dismissal of 12 ministers.The country continues to face a prolonged civil war, with Houthi rebels controlling most of the territory, including the capital, Sanaa, and ongoing U.S. military operations targeting Houthi positions.

 

4. 5 May – World Portuguese Language Day: World Portuguese Language Day was officially proclaimed by UNESCO in 2019 to be celebrated annually on May 5, recognizing the global importance of the Portuguese language.Portuguese is the official language of 9 countries, including Brazil, Portugal, Angola, Mozambique, Guinea-Bissau, East Timor, Equatorial Guinea, Cape Verde, and São Tomé and Príncipe, with over 265 million speakers, making it one of the most spoken languages in the world.The day celebrates linguistic and cultural diversity and highlights the role of Portuguese in fostering cooperation, literature, education, science, and international dialogue among Lusophone countries.

 

5. 6 May 2025 – World Asthma Day: World Asthma Day is observed every year on the first Tuesday of May to raise awareness and improve care for asthma patients around the world. In 2025, it was observed on 6th May.Theme 2025 -Make Inhaled Treatments Accessible for ALL Asthma is a chronic respiratory disease that inflames and narrows the airways. Common symptoms include wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and coughing.

 

6. 7 May – World Athletics Day: Every year, World Athletics Day is celebrated on May 7 to encourage people, particularly young people, to get involved in sports.It is a yearly occasion to recognise athletes and impart virtues like perseverance and drive that we can all learn from sports.

 

7. 8 May – World Thalassaemia Day: World Thalassaemia Day is observed annually on May 8 to raise global awareness about thalassaemia, an inherited blood disorder characterized by the body’s inability to produce adequate hemoglobin, leading to anemia and other health complications.Theme 2025 – Together for Thalassaemia: Uniting Communities, Prioritizing PatientsThalassaemia is a genetic blood disorder in which the body makes an abnormal form or inadequate amount of hemoglobin—the protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen. This leads to anemia (a shortage of red blood cells), causing fatigue, weakness, and other serious health problems.

1. US-Mexico Military Relations: In recent developments, US President Donald Trump expressed a desire for American troops to assist Mexico in combating drug cartels. This proposition was firmly rejected by Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, who emphasised the importance of Mexican sovereignty. This exchange marks the complex nature of US-Mexico relations, particularly regarding military intervention. The historical backdrop of these relations is marked by military conflicts, notably the Mexican-American War and the Pancho Villa Expedition. The Mexican-American War was initiated under President James K. Polk, motivated by the belief in “manifest destiny.” Polk aimed to annex Texas and expand US territory into California and New Mexico. In 1846, following failed negotiations, Polk deployed troops into disputed territory, leading to a Mexican response and the subsequent declaration of war. The US military quickly gained ground, capturing Mexico City within 16 months. The war concluded with the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, resulting in territorial gains for the US, including California and New Mexico, for $15 million. This conflict not only expanded US territory but also heightened tensions regarding slavery and contributed to the American Civil War.

Rohit Sharma retires from Test Cricket: Rohit Sharma has announced his retirement from Test Cricket with immediate effect.Rohit has scored 4301 runs in 67 Tests with 12 hundreds and 18 half centuries at an average of 40.57.Meanwhile, the 38-year-old cricketer will continue to represent India in ODIs.He made his Test debut in 2013 and was appointed Test captain in 2022.

IIFT gets approval to set up off-campus centre at GIFT City: The Union Ministry of Education has approved setting up an off-campus centre of IIFT, New Delhi, at GIFT City, Gujarat, under the UGC Regulations 2023, to offer the flagship MBA (International Business) programme and specialised courses.The approval was granted under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, after IIFT met all LoI requirements, aligning with NEP 2020’s vision for multidisciplinary and quality education.The new campus will be located on the 16th and 17th floors of GIFT Tower 2 and will include advanced infrastructure like a modern library, plans for a permanent campus, and facilities for research and training in international business.

 

2. Chhattisgarh CM lays foundation of India’s first AI-based data park: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has laid the foundation of the country’s first Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based data centre park in Sector-22 of Nava Raipur.The project is expected to generate around 500 direct and 1,500 indirect employment opportunities, with priority given to locals.The data centre park spread across 5.5 hectares, to be operated by RackBank Datacenters Private Limited, will include a 2.7-hectare area developed as a Special Economic Zone and the project will be fully dedicated to AI-based services.The first phase will begin with a capacity of five megawatts, and may be expanded up to 150 megawatts. An additional investment of approximately ₹2,000 crore is anticipated.

 

3. C-DOT and CSIR-NPL Sign MoU to Advance Collaborative Research in Classical and Quantum Communications: Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) and the CSIR–National Physical Laboratory (CSIR-NPL) have signed an MoU to jointly advance research and innovation in classical and quantum communication technologies, aligning with national goals of technological sovereignty and self-reliance.The partnership combines C-DOT’s strengths in telecom and quantum communication with CSIR-NPL’s capabilities in scientific measurement and standardization, promoting joint R&D, knowledge sharing, and infrastructure access.The initiative supports India’s ambition to lead in next-generation secure communication by fostering academic exchange, ensuring IP transparency, and contributing to “Make in India” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat” initiatives.

Government to Launch ‘Depot Darpan’ Portal for Real-Time Monitoring of Food Storage Warehouses: The Ministry of Consumer Affairs will launch the “Depot Darpan” portal and mobile app enable real-time monitoring of food storage depots, aiming to improve quality, safety, and transparency in warehousing.Depot Darpan will use geo-tagged data, automated ratings, and supervisory validation to assess infrastructure and operational efficiency, with each depot receiving a star rating based on performance.The platform integrates smart technologies such as CCTV, IoT sensors (for CO₂, humidity, fire hazards, etc.), and AI tools like ANPR, FRS, and automated bag counting to enhance security and operational control.Around 2,278 warehouses—managed by FCI, CWC, and other agencies—will be covered under the initiative, empowering officials with mobile-based monitoring and automated performance insights.

 

2. Prakash Magdum Appointed as MD of National Film Development Corporation: Prakash Magdum has been appointed as the Managing Director of the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC).Prior to his appointment at NFDC, Magdum served as the Additional Director General of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) and the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC) in Ahmedabad, contributing significantly to public information.

 

3. FMCG major Marico extends CEO Saugata Gupta’s tenure for two years: Home-grown FMCG major Marico has extended the tenure of its Managing Director & CEO, Saugata Gupta, for two more years, from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2028.The decision was made during a Board of Directors meeting held on May 2, 2025.The board also approved the continuation of Harsh Mariwala as Non-Executive Director, following the Nomination and Remuneration Committee’s recommendation.

 

4. FSIB recommends Sanjay Joshi as CMD of Oriental Insurance Company: The Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB) recommended Sanjay Joshi for the position of Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) at Oriental Insurance Company Limited (OICL).Recently, the government appointed Executive Director Amit Misra as the acting CMD of the company for a three-month period starting 1 March 2025.Joshi is currently serving as General Manager at United India Insurance Company. A direct recruit officer from the 1989 batch, he has worked in the general insurance sector for over 30 years, holding roles as branch and divisional head across multiple regional offices.

India to provide $200 loan to Angola to modernise its Armed Forces: India has agreed to provide Angola with a $200 million line of credit (loan) to modernise its armed forces. This was announced during Angolan President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço’s visit to India on 3rd April 2025.Angola will use the amount to buy defence equipment, transport vehicles, ammunition, and other assets from the Indian public and private sector defence companies.Angola has also expressed interest in getting India’s help in modernising and servicing Angolan Russian weapon systems, such as SU-30 fighter jets.

 

2. Indian Armed Forces launch ‘OPERATION SINDOOR’ on nine terror targets of Pakistan & PoK: Indian Armed Forces launched ‘OPERATION SINDOOR’, post-midnight, hitting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed.The operation was focused, measured, and non-escalatory, with no Pakistani military facilities targeted, showcasing India’s restraint and strategic intent.Prime Minister Narendra Modi personally monitored the entire operation overnight, reinforcing the government’s commitment to holding those responsible for the Pahalgam attack accountable.

China wins the 19th Sudirman Cup 2025: Badminton powerhouse China has won the BWF Sudirman Cup for the fourth consecutive time, beating South Korea 3-1 in the final of the 19th edition of the Sudirman Cup 2025.It was the 14th title win for the Chinese in the Sudirman Cup’s history. Only three countries, China, Indonesia, and South Korea, have won the Sudirman Cup.The Indian team failed to qualify for the quarter-finals and finished 9th amongst the 16 teams participating in the tournament.The Sudirman Cup is a biennial mixed-team badminton competition organised by the Badminton World Federation (BWF). China hosted the 19th edition of the Sudirman Cup Finals in Xiamen.The Chinese team defeated Japan, while South Korea defeated Indonesia to reach the final. This was the Chinese team’s 16th consecutive final.

 

2. PM Modi Virtually Opens 7th Khelo India Youth Games 2025 Hosted by Bihar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 7th edition of the Khelo India Youth Games 2025 through a virtual address.For the first time, the state of Bihar is hosting this national-level sports event, scheduled from May 4 to May 15, 2025. While the majority of competitions will be held across different cities in Bihar, three events—gymnastics, shooting, and cycling—will take place in New Delhi.The opening ceremony took place at the Patliputra Sports Complex in Patna, with Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar attending as the chief guest.This year’s official mascot is “Gajasimha”, a mythical hybrid of an elephant (Gaja) and a lion (Simha), symbolizing immense strength as per Ayurvedic traditions. The theme slogan for the games is “Khel ke rang, Bihar ke sang.”The 2025 edition features 27 competitive sports along with 1 demonstration event. Bihar will host events in Patna, Rajgir, Gaya, Begusarai, and Bhagalpur, welcoming nearly 5,000 athletes from 36 states and Union Territories.

Goa wins 2025 Kalinga Super Cup: FC Goa defeated Jamshedpur FC 3-0 in the final, winning the 5th edition of the Kalinga Super Cup football tournament 2025.The Kalinga Super Cup 2025 final was played at Bhubaneshwar, Odisha.FC Goa, also known as Gaurs, became the first team in the Kalinga Super Cup history to win it twice. It won the Kalinga Super Cup in 2019.FC Goa has also qualified for the playoff stages of next season’s Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Champions League 2. If FC Goa fail to win that playoff game, they will play in the AFC Challenge League.The tournament name is Super Cup, but as the Odisha government sponsors it, it has been known as the Kalinga Super Cup since the 2024 edition. UIDAI successfully conducts Face Authentication pilot for NEET Exam.: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) successfully conducted a Proof of Concept (PoC) using Aadhaar-based face authentication during National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2025 in New Delhi, in collaboration with NIC and NTA.The PoC aimed to assess the feasibility and effectiveness of real-time, contactless face authentication for verifying candidate identity during large-scale exams.Aadhaar Face Authentication was integrated with NIC’s digital systems and NTA’s protocols at selected NEET centres, demonstrating high accuracy and operational efficiency.The initiative showcased the potential of biometric authentication to enhance exam security, prevent impersonation, and ensure a student-friendly verification process.

 

2. DRDO conducts maiden flight-trials of Stratospheric Airship Platform: DRDO conducted the first flight-trial of its Stratospheric Airship Platform at Sheopur, Madhya Pradesh, reaching an altitude of 17 km and flying for 62 minutes with a scientific payload.Developed by Aerial Delivery Research and Development Establishment (ADRDE), Agra, the test validated envelope pressure control and emergency deflation systems, with onboard sensors collecting critical data for future simulation models.The total duration of the flight was about 62 minutes.The airship enhances India’s capabilities in earth observation, surveillance, and intelligence (ISR), marking a major stride in indigenous high-altitude lighter-than-air systems.

1. India’s economic growth to remain steady at 6.6% in FY2025-26: Deloitte: India’s economic growth is expected to remain steady at 6.6 per cent in FY2025-26, as per Deloitte’s latest forecast.However, revised data shows that FY2023-24 recorded a strong 9.2 per cent growth.

 

2. Goldsikka Unveils AI-Powered Gold-Melting ATM: Goldsikka launched an AI-powered Gold-Melting ATM, allowing users to buy, sell, exchange, digitise, and monetise gold and gold jewellery without human interference.The machine includes an Augmented Reality (AR) feature, enabling customers to virtually try on jewellery before purchasing.Gold deposited in the ATM is melted, its purity tested, and the value displayed, with the customer receiving the amount transferred directly to their bank account in about 30 minutes.Security features include Aadhar and ID verification, with the ATM automatically reporting suspicious transactions to the police if a crime record is detected.

India’s First WAVES 2025 Concludes in Mumbai: India’s first World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) 2025 concluded at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai.The four-day summit, was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The summit witnessed participation from over 90 countries, with more than ten thousand delegates.The event covered a wide range of discussions, focusing on crucial themes such as artificial intelligence in media and entertainment, the globalisation of media, the future of content creation, and the profound impact of emerging technologies.The cultural programmes during the four-day summit mesmerised the audience, which highlighted India’s vast artistic diversity through traditional folk dances, martial arts displays and vibrant drumming performances.

 

2. Tamil Nadu Launches India’s First Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme to Boost Exports and Employment: Tamil Nadu becomes the first state in India to introduce a dedicated Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme, aiming to attract Rs 30,000 crore in investments and generate 60,000 jobs.The state government will offer matching grants to complement Union government incentives, targeting manufacturers in sub-segments like HDI boards, display assemblies, and lithium-ion cells.Tamil Nadu’s electronics exports have surged from $1.66 billion in FY21 to over $14.6 billion in FY25, establishing the state as India’s largest electronics manufacturing export base.The scheme is part of Tamil Nadu’s broader policy framework, including the Tamil Nadu Semiconductor and Advanced Electronics Policy (2024), aiming to attract global and Indian firms in the electronics sector.

Sanjay Khanna Takes Additional Charge as Chairman & MD of BPCL: Sanjay Khanna has taken additional charge as Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), while continuing as Director (Refineries).An NIT Tiruchirapalli graduate in Chemical Engineering with a postgraduate degree in Finance Management, Khanna brings over 30 years of experience in refinery operations and technical services.He has led major projects at BPCL’s refineries in Mumbai, Kochi, and Numaligarh, including the commissioning of BPCL’s first Niche Petrochemical project—PDPP at Kochi Refinery.

Prof Ajay K Sood Elected to the American Academy of Arts & Sciences: Renowned physicist and PSA (Padma Shri Award) recipient, Prof Ajay K Sood, has been inducted into the prestigious American Academy of Arts & Sciences.The election recognizes Prof Sood’s significant contributions to the field of physics and his impactful research in condensed matter and nanoscience.Sood, elected as PSA in April 2022, is also the Chairperson of the Prime Minister’s Science, Technology & Innovation Advisory Council (PM-STIAC).

 

2. 3 May – World Press Freedom Day: World Press Freedom Day is celebrated annually on May 3rd to highlight the importance of a free press in fostering democracy and human rights.It aims to raise awareness about the importance of press freedom, the challenges faced by journalists, and the need for media independence.Theme 2025 – Reporting In The Brave New World – The Impact Of Artificial Intelligence On Press Freedom And The MediaThe World Press Freedom Day was declared by the United Nations General Assembly in 1993 following a recommendation adopted at the 26th Session of UNESCO’s General Conference in 1991. Before taking charge as the Vice Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Tiwari served as the Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (AOC-in-C) of the Gandhinagar-based South Western Air Command (SWAC).He was commissioned in the fighter stream in June 1986. HPCL, ADNOC Trading ink their first LNG trading supply agreement: Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and ADNOC Trading have signed their first-ever Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) trading and supply agreement.This agreement marks a strategic collaboration between HPCL, an Indian oil and gas company, and ADNOC Trading, the trading arm of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company.The partnership aims to strengthen energy supply channels and enhance LNG trade between India and the UAE, contributing to global energy security.The LNG will be received at recently commissioned Chhara LNG Terminal of HPCL LNG, a wholly-owned subsidiary of HPCL, to meet captive demand of HPCL.

 

2. RBI Fines ICICI Bank, Bank of Baroda, IDBI Bank, and Bank of Maharashtra for Regulatory Non-Compliance: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has fined four banks, including ICICI Bank and Bank of Baroda, for non-compliance with regulatory guidelines.ICICI Bank was fined Rs 97.80 lakh for failing to comply with RBI’s directions on Cyber Security Framework, KYC, and credit card and debit card issuance protocols.Bank of Baroda was penalized Rs 40 lakh for not adhering to RBI’s guidelines on financial services and customer service practices.Both IDBI Bank and Bank of Maharashtra were penalized Rs 31.8 lakh each for non-compliance with directions related to Kisan Credit Card schemes and KYC procedures.The RBI clarified that the penalties were imposed due to deficiencies in regulatory compliance and not to question the validity of any transactions or agreements with customers.

S&P Global Ratings Cuts India’s Growth Projections for FY26 and FY27: S&P Global Ratings reduced India’s growth forecast for FY26 by 20 basis points to 6.3%, citing a “seismic and uncertain shift” in US trade policy contributing to market turbulence and a potential global economic slowdown.The agency further revised India’s growth estimate for FY27 down by 30 basis points to 6.5%, marking the second consecutive cut for FY26 after a previous reduction in March.

 

4. GST collections in April hit all-time high of ₹2.36 lakh crore: GST collections in April 2025 hit an all-time high of ₹36 lakh crore, marking a 12.6% year-on-year increase, driven by strong economic activity and year-end book reconciliation by businesses.This surpasses the previous record of ₹10 lakh crore collected in April 2024 and ₹1.96 lakh crore in March 2025, showing sustained revenue growth.Revenue from domestic transactions rose by 10.7% to ₹9 lakh crore, while collections from imported goods surged by 20.8% to ₹46,913 crore.Break-up of April GST: Central GST ₹48,634 crore, State GST ₹59,372 crore, Integrated GST ₹69,504 crore, and Cess ₹12,293 crore, all from domestic transactions.

Election Commission of India Introduces New Initiatives to Improve Electoral Rolls and Voter Convenience: The Election Commission of India has introduced new steps to improve voter rolls and make voting easier. These changes align with plans discussed by Chief Election Commissioner Shri Gyanesh Kumar in a meeting with other Election Commissioners in March.The Commission will now obtain death registration data electronically from the Registrar General of India in line with Rule 9 of the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960 and Section 3(5)(b) of the Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1969 (as amended in 2023).This will ensure that the Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) receive timely information about registered deaths. This will also enable Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to re-verify the information through field visits, without waiting for a formal request under Form 7.To make Voter Information Slips (VIS) more voter friendly, the Commission has also decided to modify its design. The serial number and part number of the voter will now be displayed more prominently, with increased font size, making it easier for voters to identify their polling station and for polling officials to locate their names in the electoral roll efficiently.

NITI Aayog Releases Report on “Enhancing Competitiveness of MSMEs in India”: NITI Aayog, in collaboration with the Institute for Competitiveness (IFC), released a comprehensive report proposing systemic reforms to unlock the potential of India’s Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across key areas like finance, skilling, innovation, and market access.The report identifies sector-specific challenges in textiles, chemicals, automotive, and food processing, and emphasizes the need to integrate MSMEs into global value chains through improved policy implementation and data-driven strategies.While access to formal credit for MSMEs improved between 2020 and 2024, with credit access rising from 14% to 20% for micro and small enterprises, a large credit gap remains—with only 19% of credit demand met and ₹80 lakh crore unmet.Key challenges include a shortage of skilled workforce, limited investment in R&D and quality improvement, and barriers to technology adoption due to weak infrastructure, poor internet connectivity, and lack of awareness of existing government schemes.The report recommends a robust, adaptive, and cluster-based policy framework at the state level, with a focus on digital marketing training, logistics partnerships, and direct market access, especially in northeastern and eastern regions with high growth potential.

 

3. Jubilant Beverages gets CCI nod to acquire 40 pc stake in Hindustan Coca-Cola Holdings: Fair trade regulator CCI cleared Jubilant Beverages’ proposal to acquire a 40 per cent stake in Hindustan Coca-Cola Holdings Pvt Ltd (HCCH).The proposed combination relates to inter alia, JBL (Jubilant Beverages Ltd) proposed acquisition of 40 per cent of the shareholding of HCCH from Hindustan Coca-Cola Overseas Holdings Pte Ltd, and Bharat Coca-Cola Overseas Pte Ltd.HCCH is a holding company with no independent activities in India and belongs to the Atlanta-based The Coca-Cola Company group. Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB) is a subsidiary of the HCCH.

India’s Total Exports Grow by 6.01% to Reach Record $824.9 Billion in 2024–25, Up from $778.1 Billion in 2023–24: RBI Report: India’s total exports hit an all-time high of US$824.9 billion in FY 2024–25, marking a 01% growth over the previous year’s US$778.1 billion, according to RBI data.Services exports were the main growth driver, reaching a record US$387.5 billion in 2024–25 — a 13.6% increase from the previous year, with March 2025 alone seeing 18.6% year-on-year growth.Non-petroleum merchandise exports also surged to a historic US$374.1 billion, reflecting a 6.0% rise from US$352.9 billion in 2023–24, making it the highest ever annual figure for this category.
