1. Prolonged exposure to such high heat can be extremely dangerous, especially in regions already experiencing intense heat.This extreme heat event in Iran is part of a broader heatwave affecting much of West Asia. In recent weeks, temperatures in the region have reached up to 50°C, making the situation even more concerning. When the air is very humid, sweat doesn’t evaporate as quickly from the skin, which is the body’s natural way of cooling down. As a result, the body feels much hotter than the actual air temperature, which is why the heat index can be so high.
2. Vulture Count 2024: World Wide Fund (WWF)-India has started a new project called “Vulture Count 2024,” which will take place from September 7 to October 6, 2024. This initiative is timed to coincide with International Vulture Awareness Day. The goal is to count and evaluate the number of vultures in India, particularly focusing on species that are critically endangered.
