Hindi is an official language, not the national language. The first official Hindi Diwas was observed on September 14, 1953.

2. Major Sikh Takhts and Religious Centres: Sikh Takhts are the highest seats of temporal and spiritual authority in Sikhism. They guide the community on faith, discipline, tradition and collective decision-making. Among them, the Akal Takht in Amritsar is the most prominent, while the other Takhts are linked to major turning points in Sikh history. The word Takht means a throne or seat of authority. In Sikhism, Takhts are not only sacred shrines but also institutions of moral guidance and religious administration. They represent the principle of Miri-Piri, introduced by Guru Hargobind, where Miri stands for temporal responsibility and Piri for spiritual authority.

These institutions issue Hukamnamas, or directives, on matters affecting the Sikh Panth. They also served historically as places where disputes were settled and community discipline was maintained. Thus, Takhts combine devotion, authority and collective leadership.

An alternative proposal retains the existing CTS VWAP method, which uses only trades from the final 30 minutes of continuous trading before any shift to the blended method after at least one year.

6. Important Indigenous Cattle Breeds of India: India’s indigenous cattle breeds are an important genetic resource for agriculture, dairy development and rural livelihoods. Their value lies in adaptability to local climates, resistance to diseases and suitability for low-input farming systems. For Prelims, the key areas are breed classification, notable examples, conservation schemes and recent assisted reproductive technology applications. Indian indigenous cattle are broadly grouped by utility into three categories: dairy, draught and dual-purpose. This classification is useful for understanding their economic role and breeding priorities. The National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources (NBAGR) is the nodal agency for identification, characterization and conservation of livestock and poultry genetic resources in India. It also maintains the official register of recognized breeds.

7. OPU-IVF Calf Born in Badri Cattle in Major Indigenous Breed Conservation Milestone: A healthy Badri female calf was born on 11 September 2026 through Ovum Pick-Up and In Vitro Fertilisation (OPU-IVF) technology at the Academic Dairy Farm of G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar. The Badri embryo was conceived in a laboratory and transferred into a Sahiwal cow as a surrogate mother. The work formed part of a three-year research programme involving ICAR-National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal, and G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar. OPU-IVF is an assisted reproductive technology used in bovines for producing embryos from oocytes collected from donor females. In the OPU method, ova are picked up from the ovary, fertilised in vitro, and the resulting embryo is transferred into a recipient cow. The technique is used in cattle breeding programmes for faster multiplication of selected germplasm.

Air links are the most visible current bridge between India and China, supporting passenger movement, cargo transport and business travel. After a long disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and later geopolitical tensions, direct services are being restored gradually.

2. Major Dairy Breeding and Cloning Technologies in India: India’s dairy sector is increasingly using advanced breeding tools to raise milk productivity and conserve valuable indigenous bovine genetics. Assisted Reproductive Technologies (ART) help scientists handle gametes and embryos in the laboratory to speed up genetic improvement, improve reproductive efficiency, and multiply superior animals more quickly than conventional breeding. ART covers a range of methods, including Artificial Insemination (AI), Multiple Ovulation and Embryo Transfer (MOET), In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF), Ovum Pick-Up (OPU), and sexed semen technology. These methods are now central to modern dairy development because they allow faster spread of desirable traits, better herd planning, and more precise use of elite germplasm.
