Karnataka Launches Digital Grievance System for Gig Workers: In a landmark step towards safeguarding the rights of platform-based workers, the Karnataka government has launched India’s first dedicated digital grievance redressal mechanism for gig workers. The initiative aims to formalise dispute resolution for a rapidly expanding workforce that has largely functioned without structured legal support. The system has been developed by the Karnataka Platform-based Gig Workers’ Board in collaboration with the Department of e-Governance. It marks a significant policy intervention in addressing the concerns of gig workers, including those engaged with ride-hailing, food delivery, and other digital platforms. 2. HF Radar Installation to Boost Karaikal Coastal Monitoring: The National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) is set to enhance coastal surveillance along Puducherry’s Karaikal region by installing a high-frequency (HF) radar system. The initiative aims to strengthen real-time ocean observation, improve weather forecasting accuracy, and support early warning systems for extreme events such as cyclones. NIOT has shortlisted two sites—Kilinjalmedu and Akkempettai—for the installation of the HF radar. 3. 1. China Expands Zero-Tariff Access for Africa: China has announced zero-tariff treatment for all African countries that maintain diplomatic ties with Beijing, starting from May 1, 2026. The move is aimed at strengthening China-Africa trade relations and improving market access for African exports. China’s zero-tariff policy will apply to 53 African countries that have diplomatic relations with Beijing. For 20 African countries that are not classified as Least Developed Countries (LDCs), the policy will be implemented from May 1, 2026, to April 30, 2028, through preferential tariff rates. China said it will continue negotiations for the China-Africa Economic Partnership for Shared Development. It also plans to improve the green channel for African agricultural exports and increase trade facilitation measures to strengthen long-term economic cooperation.

QS MBA Rankings 2026: IIM Bengaluru Tops India: The QS Executive MBA Rankings 2026 have reaffirmed the global standing of Indian management education, with IIM Bengaluru emerging as the highest-ranked business school from India.
